Ben Ish Hai

Rabbi Shimon gave this introduction, saying (Zohar Vol. 3, daf 166b): "Ayelet ahavim ve'ya'alat chen, dadeiha yeravukha bekhol 'et; be'ahavatah tishgeh tamid/A lovely ewe and a graceful she-ibex, let her teats satisfy you at all times; with her love be involved (to the [partial] neglect of other matters) always. (Prov. 5:19)" Oraita! Oraita! (Torah! Torah!) the light of all the worlds! How many seas and rivers and wells and springs spread out from you to in all directions! From you is everything, by you the upper and lower [worlds] are sustained. His upper light goes out from you. Oraita! Oraita! what shall I say of you, ayelet ahavim ve'ya`alat chen, above and below are your mercies, whoever merits to acquire from you in the proper fashion. Oraita! Oraita! The delights of those who master you! Who can reveal and tell your secret and hidden things!

Mishneh Torah, Repentance

It is a known and clear matter that the love for the Holy One, blessed is He! does not become tied up within the heart of man unless he will constantly feel its proper tremor, and abandon everything in the world save that alone, even as He commanded: "With all thine heart and with all thine soul" (Ibid. 6.5). No one loves the Holy One, blessed is He! save by the measure of knowledge that he knows Him. According to that knowledge will that love be; if it be small, the love will be small; if it be abundant, the love will be abundant. It is, therefore, necessary for man to dedicate himself to understand and acquire intelligence in the sciences and reasonings which make known to him his Owner, in the measure of power that man possesses to understand and attain it, as we have elucidated it in the treatise concerning the Foundations of the Torah.

Mishneh Torah, Forbidden Intercourse

Similarly, a person should accustom himself to stay far away from levity, drunkenness, and flirting because there are all major causes of the violation of prohibitions regarding forbidden sexual relationships. Also, one should not stay unmarried because this practice [of being married] is a cause of great purity. Greater than all these [our Sages] said that one should turn himself and his thoughts to words of Torah and immerse his mind in wisdom because sexual thoughts do not rule in one's mind except in the mind of one who's heart is turned away from wisdom. Regarding wisdom it is said, "It is a beloved hind, arousing favor. Her breasts will satisfy you at all times. You shall be obsessed with her love."
